The Hero Complex as Manipulation & Influence Tactic

The Fictious Hero and Power and Manipulation Tactic Hero Complex.

Earlier on we had discussed the concept of hero complex, The collective theme of creating scenarios and crises that you save to be honored or recignized as a hero.

Like a fire arsonist setting the fire up on a building before putting it off. Or a police officer setting up a bomb like the 1984 incident to bbe hailed as a hero after plucking the wires off.

While it’s more associated with Narcissism, can the Hero complex be applied in Power and manipulation techniques?

Let’s see.

Robert Greene is arguable the greatest Machiavellian thinker in the 21st century.

Greene in his work claim that people are attracted to those who already have demonstrated their effectiveness or appealed to others before.

It’s for this reason he recommended a tactic or technique of making yourself an object of desire by creating an illusion of previous Successes.

For instance; An expert attending a podcast show starts narrating an Fictious incidence where someone came for help and how he helped solved the problem.

This is meant to assert his authority and create an illusion of already being desired by others who had been to him for help before.

Is this hero complex in action?

Yes. Though verbally expressed not action oriented.

While it may not be aimed at acquiring praise or recognition the mechanic remains the same; One Manufactures a crisis which they present themselves as the saviour of the situation.

The slight difference is that the manufactured crises is Fictious but also the actions is Fictious ie; didn’t happen.

Politicians use this effect when they hire individuals to come praise them on televisions for their ‘Heroic acts’ of helping them.

Fake Preachers use this effect when they get someone to act as a physically disabled individual to act out in a crusade and the preacher prays for them before they demonstrate their healing by walking. Making themselves objects of desire.
