In the 48 Laws of Power, Author Robert Greene in the 10 th Law reiterates on the need to avoid the unlucky and unhappy.

One might see it as Inhumane or Narcissistic to avoid an individual suffering but though shall you learn differentiate Genuine victims from self inflicted victims.
The later thrive on dramas and can inflict pain upon themselves just to get sympathy or attention or manipulate you into roles you didn’t sign up for eg; The Caretaker, Caregiver, The villain in their story or even therapist.
Sometimes the drama they enmesh you in are just strategic tactics to avoid taking responsibility or blaming outside forces instead of facing their own flaws.
According to Robert Greene, Emotions are contagious, and being entangled in others dramas might get you infected with their emotional states and dramas as Brutus was.
Unlike those who have been pinned down by circumstances beyond their control and deserve our help and sympathy, he drama queens in our case have a habit of drawing troubles upon themselves through their actions. For instance; Someone who always sabotages his relationship when it gets serious only to blame it on the other partners or say one who sabotages efforts just to remain in the familiar zone of Victimhood and suffering. Some even fake sickness to avoid responsibility like a kid faking sicknesses to avoid going to school.
They’re always the victims, never the villains.
Any attempt to help them backfires and might even lead to Help rejecting mechanism.
In the realme of Power as Greene states, one wastes valuable time and energy when in association with the infector. There is also guilt that one risks incurring through association.
The only way is isolation and loving them from distance.
Be forewarned by these signs of an infector; learn to see the discontent in their eye. Most important of all, do not take pity. Do not enmesh yourself in trying to help. The infector will remain unchanged, but you will be unhinged.
